Logan-McCloskey Plate Coin, Page 156. Medium gray with peripheral blue and iridescent toning. A few very minor blemishes are noted on both obverse and reverse.

Collector J. Alan Bricker was busy in 1988. This is the second new variety of 1829 half dime he discovered in that year (see LM-8, above) with this variety described by Jules Reiver in Volume 4, Issue 2 of the John Reich Journal. As Rarity-6, just 13 to 30 examples of this variety are known. Most likely the actual number is toward the lower end of this range, perhaps 15 to 20 coins. The Half Dime Census lists eight examples with only one finer than this.

Previously certified AU-55 by NGC.

This is the final use of obverse 2 with a very light die crack from B to the hair curls. The reverse is in its third use with a tiny die chip in the left angle of N and very minor clash marks.
