Logan-McCloskey Plate Coin, Page 138 and 153. This is a very attractive example with sharp design features and only slight traces of wear. Very lightly cleaned at one time, however, with pleasing peripheral toning, especially on the obverse.

Discovered by J. Alan Bricker in 1988. Jules Reiver described this variety in the John Reich Journal, Volume 3, Issue 2-3. Very few examples have been discovered since this variety was first publicized. At least five EF and AU examples are known. Tied with another for finest of five examples reported in the Half Dime Census. An extremely important opportunity for the specialist collector to acquire this rare variety. By definition of the rarity rating, less than 13 examples of this die marriage are known.

Cracked through B of LIBERTY to the hair curl in front of Liberty’s ear. The reverse has very minor die chips, cracks, and a rim break in the dentils over M. This die marriage combines the second use of obverse 2 with the fifth use of reverse E.

Purchased October 1994 from Jerry Farrington.
