This is a wonderful example with outstanding aesthetic appeal. Both obverse and reverse have steel gray, pale blue, lilac, and amber toning. Very light hairlines and other abrasions are evident. This example is double struck, with both obverse and reverse exhibiting plain doubling, with the first strike slightly southeast of the final position. Late die state with a rim break below the final two digits of the date. A branch die crack extends up through the left side of the first 0 to the drapery. The reverse has a bisecting die crack from M of AMERICA to I of UNITED. Acquired November 2001 from Edward I. Price. Earlier from Jonathan Kern, April 1997. |
