Because the aricraft skin gets so hot due to air friction at high-speed flight, the aircraft uses a special fuel. Not regular JetA. They use magnesium flares to start the engines. Supposedly, an engineer tossed a lit match into a cup of fuel, and the match was extinguished by the liquid.

I wonder if thats a puddle of fuel they are standing in?? I heard this thing leaked like crazy until it grew in to tolerances from thermal expansion due to air friction at speed. Or maybe they hosed the deck to minimize the risk of F.O.D.
