    That other plane IS a B-58 (good eye, Don P!). With it's great all-round visibility and tremendous speed, the B-58 would have been a perfect chase-plane for the XB-70.

    Actually, the Hustler is a TB-58. First production aircraft (prototype). Notice the large window that extends behind the pilot. The regular production aircraft didn't have this. Great aircraft.

    I saw the XB70 when it came to Ft Worth for the Carswell AFB airshow... I think it was 1965. I was a kid at the time. The radio stations broadcast its movements so people could come out to see it fly over. It was an amazing aircraft. Absolutely awesome.
