    How do you know this plane is about to take off, maybe its just sitting on the tarmac and the pilot is just doing some checks, if thats even a pilot in there, can't really tell.

    It's getting ready to depart. The wheel chocks have been pulled. The safeing pins will be removed at the arming pad prior to launch.

    Actually, this is after landing and the pins have been put back in at the EOR. You can tell because the flaps are up. Flaps are raised after landing.

    its a center pilon safety pin. the nose pin is forward and up. it would cover up the aircraft numbers and wouldnt stick out as far

    This is on taxi to the End of Runway inspection. The armament pins are removed at EOR. The discrepancy with this photo is the nose gear pin. It is supposed to be removed after the start of the #2 engine.
