Paint (if 10 is factory) : Exterior 9 / Interiors 8.5
Advantages of ' 90's over ' 70's Tigers :
- Piper-style lever engine control assembly vs the original push-pull system,
- Additional factory soundproofing,
- Came stock from the factory with the unrestricted Sensenich prop vs the original McCauley with an 1850-2150 yellow arc and a 500 hour inspection requirement
- The AG's have a 28v verses a 14v electrical system in the older Tigers
- The Red rudder strobe cap (tail beacon), allegedly gives you 2 extra knots.
- The avionics panel is metal without plastic overlays.
- Both mags are impulse-coupled, so you can start with both mags on.
- There's no separate starter button.
- The 2 landing lights are on both wingtips.
- Carbon Fiber Cowling (SPLIT NOSE ALREADY DONE), wing tips, and wing root fairing.
- 90amp alternator
- Ram air induction
- New plane smell and feel (No charge for this one)
- Factory spin on oil filter
- Wheel pants
All the advantages to buying a newer plane than an older one (read: less
shop time and more flying time).
Examples :
- Less AD's (AG-5B does not suffer from the aileron torque tube inspection AD)
- Newer avionics (don't have to replace anything)
- Less stress on airframe and parts due to less total time and less landings.
- Almost every bad thing from earlier models upgraded & fixed by the factory.
The avionics include:
- Narco IDME 895 VOR/LOC/GS/DME
- Narco ID825 VOR/ILS INDICATOR
- Narco ID 841 ADF and INDICATOR
- Narco PM1000 INTERCOM (4 PLACE)
- Narco AT150 TRANSPONDER
- Narco NA841 ADF LOOP ANT.
- Narco CP136 AUDIO PANEL
- Narco COM811

- Narco 03753-0302 (Don't know what it is but it's on the list)
- Narco NS 9000 STAR*NAV
- Narco AR850 ENCODER
Also the following I think I left out before :
- Wing Tip Strobes Option
- Auxiliary Ventilation System
- Davtron Digital Clock Model 800
- Shoulder Harness (4 straps per seat, all seats)
- Fire Extinguisher
- Steps, Cabin Option
